Operation Life Support is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded on May 13, 2024, our mission is to provide essential harm reduction resources in Polk County, Florida. Polk County, like many areas across the nation, faces significant challenges related to substance use. Recent statistics reveal a critical need for effective harm reduction strategies. In 2024, Polk County reported a staggering decrease in fentanyl-related overdose deaths, with fatalities dropping from 117 in 2022 to 78 in 2023, showcasing a 33% year-over-year reduction. This notable decrease can be attributed to the implementation of targeted harm reduction initiatives, including increased access to naloxone, community education programs, and expanded support services for individuals at risk. These efforts have played a crucial role in saving lives and mitigating the adverse effects of substance use. However, the need for continued support remains, as the community grapples with the ongoing impact of substance use.
We envision a community where everyone has access to the support and resources necessary to lead healthier lives. By providing harm reduction resources and promoting awareness, we aim to save lives and foster a culture of compassion and understanding. Through our efforts, we hope to create a safer Polk County for all residents.
